The Eye of the Storm

Clients and Friends,

A friend recently spoke of the post-election/pre-holiday/covid time we are in as being “the eye of the storm”. While the ‘eye’ refers to a period of calm in chaotic and strenuous circumstances over which we seemingly have no control, and the reference fits with the constant upheaval in the outer world, the moment of pause is something I believe we can choose. The challenge facing each of us with the daily exposure to ‘stress’ is to remember we have the ability to choose our behavior and our perspective: whether or not to turn off the news, whether or not to see our neighbor without judgment, as ‘our self’.

Is it really that simple to change our perspective? How can we begin to shift out of ‘auto-pilot’ and cultivate an attitude of ‘surprise’ or ‘wonder’ and not take so much of our day to day life experience for granted? I remember a classroom assignment to ‘describe an apple’. The purpose being to look at it from as many angles as possible, to see the top and bottom, any bruises and any smooth perfections, the color shade and the multiple ways of describing the taste. In our human experience this would mean to recognize that there are multiple points of view and NONE OF THEM ARE WRONG. Can I imagine ‘walking in another’s shoes’ to try to see and understand another’s point of view? Can I see the soul in another and recognize that perhaps their choices and behaviors arise from a life challenge which I may not relate to, but which I can accept as real and valid to them? So often our reactions to others or to circumstances are reflexive and arise from unconscious beliefs. With the constant change in the outer world I find it even more important to align with my constant, the soul light within me, the sacred space feeling of gratitude around and within my heart.

In my recent Living Your Best Life Class we explored how physical, emotional or mental health symptoms can be triggered by unconscious beliefs or patterns of distress arising from ancestral survival strategies stored in our DNA. Discovering the unconscious patterns of distress allows us to see from a new perspective and resolve our health/life issues when nothing else has worked. The phrase “if we don’t learn from the past we are doomed to repeat it!” emphasizes this simple truth. We’ve all know someone (even our self) who seems to repeatedly attract ‘the wrong type of person’ in personal relationships, or the same type of life lessons keep repeating themselves. Until we bring those unconscious early life or ancestral patterns into conscious awareness and identify the underlying belief we cannot change our behavior. In fact we don’t ever realize we are acting from them. Change happens with the intention to change. I must invite awareness… and learn to forgive myself first and foremost…remembering I cannot know what I don’t know.

In my practice I have always intuitively felt the energy and emotions stuck in a client’s body. I recently began to offer this new tool called DNA Repatterningboth as a stand alone process which can be done remotely over the phone, or as part of a therapy session. Clients have found it to be extremely helpful in identifying and clearing old patterns which have kept them stuck in physical and emotional wounds. Correlating a current condition with an underlying belief and then identifying the archetypal and energetic interference pattern from an ancestral survival strategy can be eye-opening. The process of clearing this allows us to create a new story and begin to manifest healing or open us to a new life direction. If this speaks to you, you can read more here or call to schedule a session.

If you need a break from the outer events of life and all that is happening during this unique time, please consider joining us each Friday for a free Community Settling experience. Please register here (via email) and you will receive instructions on how to join the session. If you are unable to join personally, consider listening to the Settling sessions posted in the self-help section of my website as a way to support your own self-healing. Due to holiday schedules we will not have live sessions Friday 11/27, 12/25 or 1/1/2021,

Following Ohio Medical Board guidelines, my office is open and I am available for sessions using the following updated protocols found on my website. If you are not comfortable with scheduling, please consider an individual phone/remote sessions. For more information, and to check out what other people are saying, please read about it here, and contact me to schedule an appointment.

May we all be guided by the wisdom of our hearts and find support in our shared experience.

Namaste,

David
